Manual therapy encapsulates any of the techniques our therapy team uses via the two hands to fundamentally restore range of motion and reduce pain. With an array of technique names like Bobath, Mulligans and ‘Chiropractic Adjustments’ it’s easiest explained by the principle of ‘if the appendage is attached to you and moves, we can treat it’ with our arsenal of massage and joint mobilization techniques. Below are two of the most common requested treatments and this is by no means an exhaustive list.
Sports and Remedial Massage can be adopted pre and post activity, but not just for sport! We have well known faces from, television to DJ’s who use our sessions to manage their preparation and aches and pains post being on set. Treatment aims are to reduce neuromuscular tension, aid in removal of accumulated waste products and promote recovery.
Joint manipulations and mobilization: Matrix use an array of techniques from different pillars of teaching to restore movement and proprioception. These techniques are not about ‘alignment’ but instead about decreasing joint fluid viscosity (thickness and stiffness) and activation of mechanical receptors around the joint capsule. These receptors feed-back diagnostic information used for balance and coordination.
