Sports Injury Clinic in Manchester- Matrix Physiotherapy

Sports Injury Clinic

With our Lead Physio having first-hand experience in elite sports, it has been a natural transition for the team to be forged around the 4 pillars of sports management: athlete screening – injury prevention – performance analysis – sport specific conditioning. With staff coming from backgrounds in elite track and field, combat and endurance sports the Matrix facility has become a unified complex, covering all bases when treating sports professionals.

Athlete screening

Athlete screening gives us key information regarding any professional’s current stature and progress through the ranks from academy to veteran. A combination of physical and medical examination, bolstered by nutritional analysis, has proven to add venom and vigor to our client’s game. Our close links to some of the top facilities in the UK for any investigative or performance equipment accelerate that transition from treatment plinth to the podium.

Injury Prevention

Injury prevention is the less glamorous side of training for most athletes, but the ‘off-field’ commitments hold a true correlation to time spent out of the med-bay. These can take many forms but often this looks at management strategies such as; maintenance programmes, foam roller practices and food diaries making up just a fraction of our comprehensive mobility and conditioning protocol.

Performance analysis

Performance analysis aims to add another dimension to athlete management, using the findings from within the Physio room, and assessing functional carry over to sport specific drills or match day scenarios. This starts at basic gait analysis using slo-mo video, to functional demonstration of golf swings and punching combinations. Through highlighting weak points in kinetic chains, we can customise and refine exercise protocols to reinforce strength training.

Sport specific conditioning

Sport specific conditioning is essential when bridging the gap from injury to competition preparations, and likewise maintenance of peak performance. It emcompasses all of the former and adds flesh and life to the assessments. Training regimes need to reflect the demands of the sport and address the weaknesses in the performer. Our Clinicians will draw from their experiences first hand, across their respected sport disciplines, to ensure rehab mapping appropriately makes our power athletes more powerful and long distances runners ever enduring.
